BBC Good Food Show Winter 2016

23rd November 2016 by Rosie

Once again, in what seems to be the blink of an eye, Christmas is almost upon us and an amazing time is to be had at the BBC Good Food Show Winter 2016, being held at the NEC between 24th and 27th November 2016.

From Celebrity Chefs, demonstrating their talents in the Supertheater this year sponsored by Aldi UK and other demonstration stages around the show, to artisan food and drink producers, as well as kitchen appliance and gadget & gizmo manufacturers; there’s always so much to see (just make sure you wear your comfy shoes!). Once again there are plenty of Good Food Show Champions who have won the coveted chance to exhibit they winning products, which were judged, against tough competition, to win their place at the show.

There’s plenty to get involved with at the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham this year. Learn new skills and get closer to the action in a Discover and Learn with Lexus session including a Yo! Sushi Masterclass and Knife Skills with Zwilling. YO! Sushi will walk you through the steps to become a sushi expert in this specially tailored masterclass where you will create three types of sushi to take away and enjoy. Or learn a range of knife skills from the Zwilling professionals – discover different sharpening techniques, which type of knife should be used for the right job, and how to master the pinch grip.

It’s a place where you can pick up plenty of hints and tips of the trade.  Grab something incredibly tasty to eat and drink whilst catching up with friends and stocking up on Christmas presents galore (not to mention the odd treat for yourself, of course!)

Once again this year, I’ll be there on Thursday 24th November as one of the BBC Good Food Show official Bloggers from where I’ll be Tweeting throughout the day, letting you know what’s in my shopping basket, what I’ve enjoyed and who I’ve caught up with amongst my favourite exhibitors and chefs.

To get you in the festive mood, join the Renshaw Academy Experts in a Christmas At: Renshaw Academy workshop. Learn how to create a festive cake topper, or discover confidence-boosting cake decorating hints and tips, plus take your own Christmas cake home. Plus, don’t miss tutored beer tastings as the Great British Beer Experience, sponsored by CAMRA and BeerHawk, returns to the Show. Explore new tastes, learn about the art of brewing and gain an insight into the diversity of real ale with industry experts Beer Hawk, Sally Lavender and Des de Moor.

Tickets are available from the BBC Good Food Show website online and also to purchase on the day. Why not treat yourself and be a VIP for the day by booking yourself a special ticket, which includes lots of other treats such as VIP parking, entrance to the VIP lounge with talks and demonstrations, a glass of fizz, tea, coffee & pastries, exclusive use of the VIP restrooms, and a fab goodie bag including a recipe book to take home.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2016

16th June 2016 by Rosie

I’m home from another fantastic day at the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham.  Today was day one of the show which runs for four days until Sunday 19th June, so there’s still plenty of time to book your tickets online, or alternatively, you can just turn up and pay your admission fee to gain entry.  However, if you pre-book your tickets online and use my code BL20, you can grab yourself a cool 20% off your admission price!  That’ll give you even more money to spend on delicious produce.

As it’s the summer show it’s also the BBC Gardner’s World Live show too, so there’s a huge amount to see outdoors in the way of plants, furniture, exhibitions etc.  My fave was this lovely girl that I saw beside the path on my way back to the car.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

I’ve spent the day walking, eating, drinking, chatting, watching chefs (& friends) on stage, not to mention cuddling these two fantastic Italian Chefs and have brought home a whole cacophony of goodies with me.

Lexus UK are once again sponsoring the show, and I watched a good friend of mine, Julie demonstrate her cupcake decorating skills with Marcus Bean on the Lexus stage.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

I’ve met some really lovely food producers who are all incredibly passionate about their products (and rightly so too!) My haul includes:

The ever delicious gluten free sauces from Debbie & Andrews. You can find them on stand F685.  I came home with Sweet Chilli and Chicken & Mango flavours.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2016

I can’t wait to get cooking a delicious tagine with the gluten free Harissa Sauce and a delicious pasta dish with the Pesto sauce from Taste Collectiv. Go and say hello to Mark & Victoria on stand F181, and treat yourself to their range of 5 sauces.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

I’ve got delicious and fresh tasting Aloe Vera drinks from Grace Aloe Vera on stand F110, (to which I have to admit I was really pleasantly surprised about; not just on the flavoured versions but on the original flavoured ones too).

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2016

Lots of lovely gluten free macaroons, madeleines, savoury crackers and cereal bars from Mrs Crimbles on stand F90.

BBC Good Food Show 2016

My mouth was on fire with the Chilli Fudge from Tan Rosie. Who knew you could use scotch bonnet chillies in fudge? Their family recipes are inspired from their heritage in Grenada and Carriacou. Go and find them on stand F632 if you dare…! HAHA!

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

I wasn’t brave enough to try the Fire Candy from the lovely guys at the  Black Liquorice Company – but I dare you to try some yourself!  Their flavoured liquorices are delicious though.  You’ll find them on F195.

Who knew that you could make a pestle & mortar out of Himalayan Salt, let alone cook on it or build a wall from it?  Visit the Salt House on stand F302 to find out more on this one.

I tasted a lovely variety of oils, balsamic vinegars and grape musts from Casa de l’Oli.  I think my favourite one was the 5 year old Blanco Balsamic vinegar, teamed up with their lime olive oil.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

I bought home some delicious coffee fudge from the Fudge Kitchen (but it’s all gone now as it didn’t last long with my husband and daughter to share it with!).  They have lots of different flavours to choose from over on stand F179. (Nice sash by the way!)

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

For lunch I enjoyed a gluten free Chicken Italia burger from Heck Sausages (stand F97), whilst to follow I bought a deliciously creamy coffee ice cream from the Salome Dairy (stand F916) which just filled the last little space I had left. (Sorry, no photos here – I was hungry!)

I also came home with a bottle of locally (Northamptonshire) produced rhubarb gin from my favourites and the multi award winning Warner Edwards (stand F460)

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

As well as the most beautiful new apron from my favourite knife manufacturer I.O. Shen Knives who you can find on F682.  How beautifully does this go with my blade tattooed knives?  I’ve already been told this is a ‘Man Apron’ and therefore has been bagged by my husband for himself! Thanks Nat x.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2016

If you like peanut butter, then you’ll love these guys over at Proper Nutty Butter.  Produced in Yorkshire with ‘Nowt but Nuts’ and love!  You’ll find them on stand F638

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

I also have delicious tasting pea flour snacks from Yushoi Snappea Rice Sticks over on F662.

BBC Good Food Show Summer 2027

I wish I could go back every day for the next three days of the show, as there is so much more I’d love to share with you, however, I’m having knee surgery tomorrow morning and have to be in hospital at 7am, so sadly only one day at the show for me this year.

If you’re going to the show over the next few days, have a wonderful time.  I wish all the exhibitors and organisers a successful show and hope the visitors have an amazing time too.  See you all for the Winter show in November.

As an official BBC Good Food Show blogger, I am provided with free entry into the show.  Some of the samples detailed above were provided to me free of charge by the exhibitors to try and review – thanks to those who continue to support me and my blog.

BBC Good Food Show, Summer 2016

30th May 2016 by Rosie

The time of year when the Birmingham NEC, sponsored by Lexus, once again hosts this year’s BBC Good Food Show Summer Show 2016 between Thursday 16th and Sunday 19th June from 9am to 6pm each day.

350x150-high-res-GFSS

What’s on?

Promising, as always, to be an amazing show where you can see your favourite chefs in the Supertheatre, such as the incredible Tom Kerridge, the fabulous Two Greedy Italians (Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo), the amazing ‘mother and son’ team; Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, the legendary Michel Roux Jr, the fantastic Hairy Bikers (Si King and Dave Myers) as well as the ladies favourite; James Martin.  This year on stage, Mary Berry will be joined by Alan Titchmarsh as they bring plot to plate and create some fantastic seasonal dishes.  Many of the chefs will also be available later to sign their latest books that you can purchase at the show.

On the Good Food Stage, this year sponsored by Lakeland you can watch interview sessions with some of the chefs and cooks from TV as well as watch some delicious recipe demonstrations to inspire you to cook your own creations at home.

I’m hungry; feed me!

If you’re hungry, you’ll find a myriad of food stalls and vendors at the Show, as well as having the opportunity to dine at the BBC Good Food Kitchen where you can enjoy a tasty 2 or 3 course meal (but you’ll have to book in advance for this as it gets incredibly busy); otherwise just follow your nose and your rumbling tummy and find you’ll be sure to find something for every appetite and taste preference.

Teach me something new!

New this year to the Show are the Discover and Learn Sessions where you can learn Cupcake Decorating, participate in a Sushi Masterclass or take part in a Five Senses Tasting Experience.

If you fancy learning how to pair chocolate with wine, then be sure to visit and take part in a Lindt Excellence Chocolate and Wine Masterclass Experience.

Once again the BBC Good Food Show shares the arena with the BBC Gardners’ World Live Show and your ticket will give you free access to enjoy and discover the delights of the garden too.

How I can help you get there:

As an official BBC Good Food Show Blogger, I’m giving you the opportunity to win a pair of tickets for admission to the Show.  To be in with a chance of winning yourself these tickets, just send me an email me to: GFS2016@freycob.co.uk tell me which stage, what day and what time Mary Berry is on stage with Alan Titchmarsh.  It’s as simple as that! Please see the Terms and Conditions of the ticket giveaway below.

I can also give you the opportunity to grab yourself a bargain of 20% off your ticket prices, if you’re not lucky enough to win the ticket giveaway. Just quote the code BL20 at the checkout to obtain your discount.  *20% off applies to Adult/Over 65s tickets only. Code is not valid on VIP or with any other offer and ends on 19/06/16. Standard Supertheatre seat is included with Super tickets, subject to availability, Gold seat upgrade £3. Offer valid on Value tickets where available. Details correct at time of print. £1.50 fulfilment fee per advance order.

What can I buy? I want to go shopping!

You can find some amazing new foods from the Good Food Champions; all of whom are passionate, outstanding artisan producers and deserve to be celebrated. You can find some of the very best in the BBC Good Food Champions area, where you’ll discover a fabulous selection of producers that you can sample and buy from and find out more about their story too.

The Producers’ Village is a huge speciality food market at the heart of the Show, packed with small artisan producers who pride themselves on the quality and provenance of their produce. Here you can try before you buy with some of the freshest seasonal foods, many of which you won’t find on your local high street.

Discover healthy food products and new ideas to help you create delicious, nutritious dishes.  Brought together are a selection of healthy food producers in the Eat Well Pavilion.

The Ludlow Producer Market section of the Show brings together a fantastic collection of producers from Ludlow and the Marches. With an emphasis on local, independent food and drink producers this is a great area to pick up some interesting products that you won’t find in the supermarkets.

It’s not just confined to food either; you can buy amazing kitchen equipment, gadgets and gizmos; knives and chopping boards; bowls and spoons. Infact; if you need it in the kitchen, you can buy it at the show!

There’ll also be loads of competitions around the show to enter.  Go on; you never know if the day you visit is going to be your lucky day!

Who’s going to be there?

Well, if you want to see a list of the exhibitors, then that’s easy!  Just follow this link to see if your favourite will be there.  There are certainly lots of mine going to be there! Many of whom I’ve enjoyed meeting for several years now and who’s products I’ve grown to love, eat, drink and use daily in my family life!

I can’t wait to go, but sadly, as I’m having a knee operation on Friday 17th June, I’ll only be able to make it one day this year and so won’t be able to go back at the weekend, so I’m really going to make the most of my visit on Thursday 16th.  Will you join me?  I do hope so!

Rosie
